It is with great enthusiasm and joy that we introduce Courtney Wright as the inaugural Director of Operations and Program Innovation for Open Horizon. Courtney shares thoughts on her transition to our team this week:
“Seen, safe, valued…as I reflect on my first few days with Open Horizon, these are the words that come to mind.  My decision to join Open Horizon wasn’t without deep consideration and reflection of what I desired at this point in my career.  I have had the wonderful opportunity to work primarily in the non-profit sector for the majority of my career.  I am aware of the challenges organizations face in actualizing their mission and bringing their vision to life in service of others.  Having cultivated a strong skillset in community building,  program design, and  leadership and organizational development,  I knew that I wanted to work for an organization that afforded me the opportunity to utilize these skills.  I also knew that doing heart-centered and healing work would have to be at the forefront and a priority for the organization.  I chose Open Horizon because of the alignment with the above. I feel honored to work alongside the Open Horizon team in support of those we partner with to bring lasting change to the communities they serve.

My journey into philanthropy is unconventional. I have always been on the receiving side of donors and have developed a keen understanding of the connection and disconnection in the relationship between grantors and grantees. The approach Open Horizon takes to support its partners holistically is what I believe makes the difference. My life’s purpose is to uplift the voices and support the growth of marginalized individuals and communities and I am looking forward to doing that in partnership with Open Horizon.”
