But wait, there’s more!… Last month, our team shared our enthusiasm for our collaboration with our partners in implementing Open Horizon’s Richard S. and Doris M. Cohen Scholarship Program.

As we shared in our previous post, we recognized early on that experiential learning opportunities would be a core pillar of Open Horizon’s programmatic partnerships.

We love dual impact.  Our partners have been co-conspiring to expand opportunity and access as we increase our commitment to experiential learning.

The majority of my career has been working for community-based non-profit organizations. Understanding the emotional, physical, and mental labor that goes into serving the community while juggling multiple demands is a challenge I am well aware of.

Open Horizon is grateful to welcome another year. We are intentionally establishing a culture of wellness that centers rest “as resistance” and we are slowly transitioning from deep hibernation.

2023 has been a momentous year in many ways. Here on the foundation front, we are excited to have made concrete steps to move from our start-up, or “founder’s” phase, towards a more mature stage of organizational development.

The 2^nd cohort of Ignite the South convened for their first retreat in New Orleans, LA on October 11-13 to learn, reflect, and conspire together.

Our executive director, D’Lynn Jacobs, and I got to attend our first Unity Summit earlier this month.

Open Horizon proudly recognized 8/28/2023 with a donation to Greatest MINDS, a non-profit organization that works with college students and young professionals to become the next generation of civic leaders through mentoring, volunteering and participating.
